Nerve damage from facelift

Nerve damage from facelift

I had a face lift 10 days ago. I realized 2 days ago when I was able to attempt a smile, the right corner of my mouth is about one-quarter of an inch lower than the right .The muscle is not working to pull it up. My Dr. is telling me that either one of the internal stiches is touching the nerve and the stitch will dissolve or the medication he injected for bleeding has touched the nerve and that it will heal in time. What is your opinion?

Some affect on the facial nerve can be a potential complication of any facelift.  If there is asymmetry in your smile following the procedure, there is a high likelihood that it will completely return to normal, but this will take some time.  Usually if function is to return, it will take four of five months to see resolution.  There is nothing that can be done at this time and it will take extreme patients on your part to wait for resolution.
