Portrait and the eyes

Portrait and the eyes

Just over a week ago I had a Portrait treatment done on my face.   My fear, after the fact, is that it may have done something to my eyes.  This doctor, or D.O., used the laser on my eyelids and around the eye, in addition to the rest of the face - and I had misgivings at the time, but trusted she knew what she was doing.... maybe that was my mistake.   I noticed some discomfort after the treatment  and now they "ache", which they never did before.   Of course, you sign something now before the treatment, which obsolves the physician of any mis-steps.

My question is, can this technology damage the eyes and is it supposed to be used around the eye at all?  I read now that in Europe, eye protection is a big concern - not so in this country apparently?   I read also that technical expertise is a concern and I do not know what this womans training is, only that she is using it on patients. Ugh, what have I done?

Unlike lasers, which can directly damage the retina of the eye, if used inappropriately, the Rhytec used a plasma energy to superficially damage the outer skin layers and stimulate skin regeneration.  Your symptoms are most likely related to swelling, healing and reaction to the treatment, and not any direct injury to the eye.
