Reconstructive surgery

Can liposuction surgery be concidered as a reconstructive surgery when the patient can not lose weight normally and the weight is casueing breaking, splintering and chipping of the bones to the point orthiopedic surgery is needed to repair the damage? I am a 31 year old woman with Hypothyroid that caused a lot of weight gain I also suffer from Osteochronditis Dissecans and Hip displacement I'm near the point I can bearly even walk anymore and swimming is only mantaining my weight not helping me lose any. I have been trying for 6 years to lose weight but sadly it hasent been working I been in a diet given to me by a dietician for 4 years and all it's done is even me more energy that I can't burn since the pain is so bad now.

Liposuction is used to contour areas of the body that have shape deformities or excess fullness.  It is never a technique for weight loss and if you undergo this procedure in an attempt to loose weight, it will be unsuccessful.  The best technique for weight loss is reduction of calories in and promotion of calories out, i.e. diet and exercise.  If you have been unsuccessful over the past six years, then a formal monitored program to help you would be appropriate.

I have been to half a dosen weight loss centers and I even spent 3 months at a "rehab" center for the obese and for the past year I have been going to the obesity center it my local hodtipal. They have had me on as few as 900 calories a day and as much as 1200 a day. All that happened was I put on 14lbs with all the changes to my diet my body couldent process all the changes. At the moment I only eat one small meal a day and one small snack a day and drink 2 ensures. I swim 3 days a week I would do more but the pool is over 30 miles from my home and a little hard to get to. My real problem is the pounds I dont really mind my body shape and when fat is removed the numbers on the scale go down do they not? I was told they can remove up to 30lbs of fat from one person at a time that would make me lighter and take 30lbs of pressure of my lowers joints at least.

There are a few plastic surgeons who do perform large volume liposuction, but there are significant risks with this procedure and patients are required to be hospitalized following the surgery.

What type of risks? I dont mind a few days in the hospital if it will help me in the long run.
