Scar Revision for Face

Scar Revision for Face

Hi I have a scar on the right side of my face.  It is approximately 3.5 inches long and runs exactly along my smile line.  It is thin near on the top but about a half inch wide as it approaches the jaw (because of jaw tension I believe I was told).  It also has more mass and is kind of hard near the jaw.  The initial wound was very deep and severed a facial artery, and the scar is just over 2 years old.  (My scar looks almost exactly like the facial scars that the one that the actor Jamie Hector has --  http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1689623040/nm0373100).

I know that I will always have the scar, but I'm wondering 1) if scar revision can do anything to help lessen its appearance and if so 2) how can I find a good -- or, if possible, the best -- facial plastic surgeon?  (I'm in the NYC area and cost is not a factor).

Thanks

The results of scar revision are some of the most difficult to predict.  Often there is improvement, but never complete erasure.  I would seek out a board certified plastic surgeon, probably one recommended by your primary care doctor.
