Scar reduction effectiveness

Scar reduction effectiveness

I had a face  laceration ( right of my chin )  due to a biking accident 2 years ago. At the time, my  doctor did a horrible job with the stitches. The scar is about 2" long and 1/4" thick and looks like a leech is attached to my face. Shaving is a nightmare because I cut myself very often due to my skin unevenness  near the scar. What treatment is most effective in reducing scar appearance, and removing scar tissue ?  What is a ball park figure for this kind of treatment ? Is this treatment covered by health insurance ?

Scar revision may be the most appropriate treatment, but other treatment option may also be used (such as steroid injections).  A definite treatment plan cannot be suggested without a direct examination.  See a local plastic surgeon for an evaluation.

Facial scars are always so annoying as face being being the image of heart. But however cosmetic surgery is so advanced and there is really very good treatment for facial scars. As your scar seems to be really very big then it should be analyzed if it has been hypertrophied or attached to inner fascia. Most probable treatment for such scar is excision which needs surgery with local anesthesia under out patient basis. If the scar is located other than facial line like Mandibular line or nose line then a careful pre surgical preparation is needed to adjust it cosmetically. There is really nothing much to be worried about surgery which leaves only mild scar which is barely visible if it is cosmetically treated into tension lines of face.Good result depends on the location of the scar and your history of developing a hypertrophied scar  which is not common over face.Catch me up if you need more details.
