Sclerotherapy

Several weeks ago I had sclerotherapy performed on a leg vein that was turning varicose and on some superficial spider veins. I am still experiencing worsening leg cramps, particularly at the back of my knees / calves and the soles of my feet. I have a haematoma in one of the major veins that was injected which is quite painful. I have had a check up with my vascular surgeon, who said the leg cramps are unrelated to the sclerotherapy and that the haematoma should disappear on its own accord. I know the sclerotherapy IS related to the leg pain, as it's happened since the procedure. I have heard of something called intra-arterial injection where sclerotherapy causes permanent muscular and tissue damage. How can I get checked for this? My surgeon is wiping his hands of the problem, which doesn't help me because I believe the sclerotherapy has directly caused this leg pain, which at times is excruciating.

This is a question that is more in the purview of your vascular surgeon or a general surgeon.  Usually the vein that are treated by a plastic surgeon are very superficial spider veins, and not varicosities.
