Seroma on neck after 3 months

After facelift/necklift I developed a ropey mass on the left side of my neck under my jaw. The doctor aspirated it until there was none left to come out.  The hard 2 inch line of ropey tissue which the doctor said is a seroma has begun to soften.  I massage it daily.  The size has not changed...is this progress?  The doctor said it was but offers little information on how long this will take or what I can do to help it along?   It's tough to go out like this and I am full of regrets.
