Swelling 8 months after a tummy tuck

Swelling 8 months after a tummy tuck

I had a tummy tuck 8 months ago. The swelling I have been experiencing has me a little concerned. For example one day I have no problems fitting into my clothes but the next day I can't even button my pants! I also feel front heavy like my abdomen is being pulled down and when I try to lay on my tummy I feel like i am laying on a ball. Is this mormal? I thought the swelling would be done by now but a friend also said she read it could take up to a year. I have never heard or read this have you?

Thank you.

At eight months post tummy tuck, I would expect that scar maturation and swelling wound be resolved.  Some of the pulling sensation may be related to the tightness of the repaired rectus fascia (the tendinous layer overlying the rectus muscles). I would recommend that you see your surgeon and have him/her re-examine you.  I would doubt that anything serious is occurring.  Sometimes variations in fitting clothes after surgery may be related to fluid retention due to diet and salt intake.
