Tram recovery

Tram recovery

I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery. I had surgery 6-5-08, sent down for ultrasound couple days after because rgt breast so swollen w/ large lump, checked out ok w/ scan, sent home day or so later, went for post-op wk later was told that the 2 holes I have underneath rgt breast that continuously drain will heal. I have continuous drainage from belly button too. Dr. told me to clean more often w/  (peroxide?) he also told me that I could have necrosis in rgt breast, I've looked it up as well as him telling me about it, and I'm very concerned & upset, I can see some improvement in the holes under my rgt breast, even though it still drains, I think it's getting smaller, but my fear is necrosis and my belly button will not heal, and should I use peroxide on it? Please help w/ something

Whenever a TRAM flap is performed, there is a risk of some compromise to the blood supply to the flap resulting in areas of fat necrosis.  This is probably what you are experiencing along with some minor healing problem of the belly button area.  Both areas will ultimately heal, but sometimes this can takes weeks or even months until full healing occurs.  Peroxide is OK to use, but I would suggest following the instructions of your surgeon for wound care and healing.  He/she is in the best position to know what is best for you.
