What is reasonable before seeking additional Medical help?

It has been six months since my facelift and one side of my face is still tingling, numbness and has pressure points that hurt.  I am always aware of it and find it to be something that I cannot ignore.  My doctor said I had alot of bleeding during surgery and if fine with just letting time take it's course.  I want more information on what is going on and the long term prognosis and if there is something I can do to alleviate the discomfort.  Should I see a neurologist?  My cheeks turns red and looks inflamed daily.

It is not uncommon to have patients note persistent numbness and sometimes tingling along the side of the face in front of the ear.  The skin was lifted away from the deep tissues, separating it from superficial nerves.  As they grow back, these symptoms will appear.  Some patients are more sensitive than others as this happens.  It may persist for another six months to a year from now.  Excessive bleeding during surgery would not be the cause of these symptoms.  I am not optimistic that a neurologist would be able to prescribe a magic drug to instantly relieve you, but it may be worth a consultation.

Thank you for answering my question.  Would this also be true for numbness and tingling that starts under your nose and affects the top and lower lip and all through the cheek area up to the bottom of my eye.The sides of my face are fine.  I did also have a mid face lift.
