Wound Infection

I had breast reduction surgery almost 4 weeks ago on Jan 28th.  Although my left breast had a lot more bruising and seemed to be taking longer to heal, the overall healing process seemed to be going well...until now. A couple of days ago I noticed part of the wound on my left breast seemed to be seeping some fluid, this is just below where there seems to be an internal lump, could this be fat necrosis? I suspected it was an infection so I went to the doctor who confirmed this (just the infection not fat necrosis) and prescribed antibiotics. I'm just really worried about this, I've read that it is quite common to contract an infection within a week of having surgery, but it has been almost 4 weeks since I had mine? Is this normal?

Your healing probablem is probably related to reaction to deep sutures and thin overlying skin.  With antibiotics, this should resolve spontaneously.
