autologous tissue engineering biodegradable scaffolds

Dear Dr Howard,

I was just wondering in general for cosmetic surgery - is it true that this new method called autologous tissue engineering produces highly effective (safe and permanent) results for cosmetic use as compared to previous cosmetic surgical procedures (this question is just in an overall case)?  I was reading a book on tissue engineering and found that autologous tissue engineering seems like a very valid choice for cosmetic use but i am not sure.  Please let me know.

I have no experience with this procedure for general cosmetic surgical use, nor have I seen any presentations at American plastic surgical meetings about this technique.  It has been reported in the European urology literature for increasing penile girth.  It would not likely be adopted by plastic surgeons in private practice in the US.
