calcific capsulitis

calcific capsulitis

Had bilat mastectomies 11 years ago, reconstructed w/saline implants.  Now have palpable lumps in one breast.  Ultrasound shows calcific capsulitis.  How reliable is this diagnosis?  Can it mask another cancer ( it is in the area as original tumor)?  What should be my next step?  Thank you.

Calcification of the scar tissue surround implants is a well recognized phenomenon.  It is not dangerous, but you should be evaluated by the general surgeon and the plastic surgeon who performed your procedures.
