cheekbone fracture

My brother fell out of a tree and fractured his cheekbone, 7 days ago.  He was informed by the Dr that he needs to have surgery.  even though there is no swelling and he said there is no pain.  He feels he will not undergo surgery.  He did say that his left nostril feels numb.  If he chooses not to have surgery, what will be the future outcome for his health.

There will be likeldy no effect on future health with no treatment.  However if the cheek bone is displaced, once healing occurs over the next week or so, it will be nearly impossible to re-fracture and re-set, should the fracture result in facial asymmetry.
