There are a variety of procedures that can be used to lengthen the upper lip.  They range from V-Y mucosal advancement flaps, to separation of the upper lip muscles from the lower nose including possible resection of the nasal spine, to fat injections.  Healing, of course will depend on the exact procedure performed and could range from only one week to much longer.  Looking up these procedures will be unsatisfying (unless you have access to actual medical journals or books and the decision of which might work for you should be left to a professional at the time of consultation.  The exact procedure selected will depend on the experience of the surgeon and your agreement with the procedure selected.

There are surgical procedures that can result in the appearance of a lengthened upper via an intraoral approach.  Different techniques can be used depending on the appearane of your upper lip and the experience of your surgeon.  Consult with a local plastic surgeon.
