lumpy scar tissue under chin

lumpy scar tissue under chin

I had a lower face and neck lift 3 weeks ago.  Under my chin is very 'tight' and 'hard', and a little 'dimpply'.   My PS told me that this is scar tissue, and that I should massage it, it will go away in time.  Any suggestions as to anything else to do?  What is the 'average' healing time for these types of 'scar tissue' in a healthy 55 year old.  I am very happy with my results, except for my under my chin, and it concerns me!  The rest of my face and neck looks awesome.  No more bruising, incisions look really good also....just the under my chin thing...and it looks and feels really weird.  HELP!

Scarring from either surgery or trauma is always its worst at 4 weeks post surgery.  This is what you are experiencing.  It will resolve over the next several months.

I had the same thing done 2 years ago and my knot under my chin turned out to necrotized fat and lymph nodes. Dr Rosenburg gave me the exact same advice but he wqas wrong. It required 2 more surgeries and I still have a bulging throat and my throat was flat and smooth (no double chin) pre op. I am still dealing with wierd swelling and lumpiness! Any advice on that?
