reaction to silicone breast implants

reaction to silicone breast implants

Hope you can help. I am BRCA 1 pos.  Due to high rate of breast CA in family I did profilactic mastectomies/hysterectomy. Reconstruction of the breasts with Silicone implants. 2-3 weeks after I started having sever fatigue. could not stay awake at work or driving. Even fell asleep while talking to people. increased memory and consentration problems. Due to increased fatigue, tested and found to have severe sleep apnea. Never had issue with this in the past. Cpap helped alot but still fatigue with driving and occ still unable to stay awake at work/talking. Meds not helping much even at max doses. I was not worried about silicone leak since this was so soon after implanted, but found that the implants are encased in Silicone. Could the meds not be working because my body is reacting to the implants? I also have psoriasis and found this may contribute to a reaction. Could it? please let me know what you think and if any blood test could be done to find out. I was also dx with uterine CA after the hystorectomy but did not need treatment since taken out before symptoms noted.

Your sleep problem needs further evaluation by a specialist.  I highly doubt that the implants, particularly at this early stage, are the source of the problem.  I am unaware of any definite test that is available to detect and form of reaction to the silicone.  Even if you were to undertake explantation, I doubt that your current symptoms would be improve.  This is a discussion you should have with your plastic surgeon.
