Scars that result of use of the electrocautery are the result of the thermal injury - effectively a burn injury.  Scar can take up to a year or more to fully mature.  I am currently using a new revolutionary device for surgery that eliminates the thermal injury from PEAK surgical (peaksurgical.com).  It is a pulsed plasma radiofrequency device (Plasmablade) that had been documented to be more effective than the standard electrocautery and eliminate the thermal injury.  I have completed a study of twenty tummy tuck patients documenting improved results.
