septoplasty gone wrong

My chief concern is this:  How risky and involved is a procedure to reverse what was done in my case?

description:  Septoplasty with inf. turb. reduction, end of March 2009

objective:  make more space to breathe on the RT side.

supposed method involved microdebrider scoring (or excision) of the cartilaginous septum on the LEFT side, which was ALREADY concave on the left side prior to the procedure, while the RT was bulging slightly (prior to surgery) and impeding flow of air through the RT pyriform aperture.    Whatever my surgeon has done, he effectively tightened the skin covereing the septum on the LEFT side and caused the septum to bow MORE to the RT.  Every incision I am aware of was done on the LEFT, already concave side of the cartilaginous septum.  The skin on the RT side of the cartilaginous septum is 'bubbled' outward even more now and I cannot suck in air except when I hold a knuckle over the left nostril (and it's still very slow and uneasy).

This does not seem like the correct way to do this, intuitively speaking.  My doctor has told me that "it doesn't matter on which side the incisions are made."   After this surgery,  and feeling my septum for some weeks now, I have to disagree.  Had it been done to tighten the RT side in the same manner, it appears that I would be breathing thru both nostrils now (and in my case it didn't matter if it even bowed slightly to the left because my aperture is larger on that side).

I am aware that procedures such as this are normally successful and that my case was not severe.  I am confounded by the facts because my surgeon is so experienced and highly regarded.  He expected immediate improvement based on his behaviour when he removed the splints.  Would it be best to see an unaffiliated doctor far from Pittsburgh?  maybe Philly?

This is a procedure that is typically performed by an otolaryngologist and not a plastic surgeon.  I suggest you obtain a second opinion.
