severe nerve pain after facelift

Six months after a facelift I started experiencing pain.   At first I thought I had a sinus infection as the pain was in a mask over and under my eyes similar to a sinus infection...however after getting no relief I went on a merry-go-round of drs. all over the southwest trying to find the reason for my pain.  It has been over three years now and I am under the care of a pain management dr. and I have been on a miriad of medications from gabapentin to fentalyn patches to methadone and now ms contin.  I am so tired of being on meds and no diagnosis has been made.  Can you help me?

I have certainly heard of and responded to patients with chronic pain following facelift procedures in this forum.  I have personally not had any personal experience with this situation in the many facelifts I have performed over many years in practice.  I suspect that many of these cases represent a form of reflex sympathetic dystrophy.  This is a complex and difficult problem to treat for which I am not an expert.  Seeing a pain management physician or a pain clinic with multiple specialists seems to be the best approach.
