what are the chances of varicose veins reappearing

I have a port wine stain covering my entire left leg, buttocks, and pubic area. I have large varicose veins and extreme deformities caused by them. I have seen a vascular surgeon and he thinks that I have Klippel- Traunnay Syndrome, w/out the gigantism. He believes the source of my vascular deformities is leakage of 2 veins. The vein that runs external from my thigh to my ankle is extremely enlarged and my foot is just one huge varicose mess. I am 28 years old. If I were to have surgery on these veins, w/ port wine being a vascular deformity would it be likely that I would have other veins become varicose later? I really want to have the surgery. My veins have been varicose since middle school. They are painful and restrict my exercise. I am extremely embarassed, and as could be expected, summer is the worst! I have 2 beautiful daughters that were born port wine free, and I would die to be able to wear dresses and shorts again. I just worry that surgery may be a waste of time. I also have numerous HUGE spider veins. They are the ugliest part of all about my leg minus the bulging vein in my calf, but the surgeon is not worried about addressing them. If I were to have surgery, generally how long before I could begin to work out again?

The port wine stain should not interfere with the procedure for your varicosities.  If there are recurrent varicose veins, they would be a result of deep vein valvular problems and not the port wine stain.  I do not perform vein surgery (which is often now performed with internal -endovascular- laser techniques).  Your disability following vein surgery should be discussed with the surgeon performing your vein surgery.
