will ear piercing cause blindness?

will ear piercing cause blindness?

im getting a helix ear piercing where they pierce the top part of the ear. i've been hearing horror stories about this person who had that kind of piercing done though. he apparently went blind afterwards because he pierced an optical nerve or something. it sounds like another one of those urban myths but i really want to know if there is really such a possibility? i have searched all over the internet but there doesnt seem to be any conclusive evidence.

This has got to be an urban myth. The only indirect cause of blindness that I can think of are cases where an injectable like collagen have been used around the nose.  A perinasal vein has been injected accidentally that resulted in retrograde thrombosis of the vein extending into the orbital cavity affecting the blood supply to the optic nerve and subsequence blindness.  But the ear? - no way.
