Looking for Facial Scar Treatment Advice (IPL, Deep FX, etc)

I have a scar on my cheek roughly one inch long as a result of being struck by a glass in May of 2009 (about 8 months ago). It's much darker than the rest of my skin, sort of a deep red or maybe brownish, and I've been trying to find a way to lighten it as much as possible.

I've been seeing a local dermatologist and he has administered a treatment called Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). I've had four of these treatments now but the discoloration doesn't seem to have improved that much. My doctor plans to do one more IPL and then possibly consider other treatments. One he has mentioned is a laser treatment called Deep FX. He has said I may have to worry about some hyperpigmentation with Deep FX because my skin is naturally sort of tan/olive toned and I have green eyes (guessing that's got something to do with genetics and how I'd respond to the treatment?).

Basically, I'm wondering if Deep FX might be the way to go since it's more in depth than IPL despite the hyperpigmentation risk. Also are there any other treatments for the discoloration I may want to consider asking my doctor about?

Just for reference: I've tried topical treatments also, including Scar Guard, and I'm currently using a combination of Aczone and Kelo-Cote that my doctor thought might be worth a shot.
