Breast Implant Infection or rejection

Breast Implant Infection or rejection

I had invasive lobular cancer in my left breast and opted to have a double mastectomy back in February 2005. Right after the mastectomy saline implants were placed in both breasts. I had chemo and radiation of the left breast. The radiation casued scar tissue build up around the left breast which caused some deformity of the breast. It was recommended by my surgeon to remove the implant in the left breast and remove some of the scar tissue to improve the appearance of the breast. Everything was healing well until the drain tube was removed 3 weeks after the surgery. My breast began to turn red and become warm. I was actually running a low grade fever of 100 F. The doctor put me on antibiotics and the condition began to improve. The redness was begining to subside. I have now been off the antibiotics for about 2 weeks and my breast appears like the condition may be coming back. The redness seems like it comes and goes depending on what I have been doing that day. I don,t like the idea of this being a rejection because of the possibility of more major surgery to correct. I am seeking another opinion on whether I am dealing with an infection or rejection.
