Cortisone Induced Atrophy of the Temples

I consulted a plastic surgeon about cortisone induced atrophy of both temples, leaving dips the size of a quarter. The cortisone was injected April, 2007.
The doctor recommended cut and stitch (incisions done under a local), and the hairline will cover the stitches. This would also give me a bit of a "lift".
Is this the best, and only resolution?

I have heard that sometimes the persistent atrophy from cortisone injections is due to persipitation of cortisone crystals in the subcutaneous tissue. The treatment of this would then be injection of saline into the area to assist in dissolving the residual cortisone. I have tried this once with limited success. However, there is limited risk in this treatment and it certainly does not involve surgery.
