Lower Eyelid Surgery/ not happy

by theusedboy, Nov 10, 2009 07:57PM
Im 31 (male) and had lower eyelid surgery in May, 2009 and I have been to my doctor for my third follow up last week. Before I got surgery, I made it clear what I wanted (expected) and my doctor told me that a lower bleth would be the way to go. 3000$ later, I hardly notice any difference from before. In fact, nobody notices a difference but my doctor insists that my eyes look much better. My friends and family tell me that they cant even tell that I had any procedure done and my eyes look the same. When I recently brought up my displeasure to my doctor (hollow areas below eyes) he told me that it was "structural"??? If this is structural, and this is what my main concern was before surgery, then why did he even bother with the lower bleth???? What do I do from this point? My doctor said he could give me fillers in 6 months when I follow up again but that seems like a temperary solution. Is there a legal procedure to get my money back?  I have before and after pictures for a judge to decide. Thanks for any help

Lower eyelid surgery can sometimes create more problems (scleral show, ectropion, etc) than solve, particularly in males.  In the absence of seeing what problems you were trying to correct, on the surface, age 31 for a lower lid blepharoplasty, seems quite young.  If the worst you are now experiencing is not much improvement from your pre-operative condition, you may be lucky.  In the absence of evidence of gross negligence, I doubt that pursuing this legally will be successful or worth you time.  However, only a legal consultation will confirm this.
