Scar revision surgery

My daughter wants to get a pretty bad scar fixed to look better since it's keliod and hasn't gotten better with creams or laser treatments. The plastic surgeon wants us to talk to Radiology first to see what they say. The doctor said that she will need radiation treatments after the surgery to keep the scar flat and not become upraised again. One of my concerns is what effect the radiation treatments will cause? Will this affect her fertility at all? I know that cancer patients who have had radiation sometimes had problems conceiving afterwards.
Is there anyone familiar with this? Thank you,
Sincerely,
April

Thank you, sweetpea, I was beginning to wonder why no one comes to this forum! I did talk to the doctor and the radiologist and the radiologist said there is a very small risk of skin cancer years down the line in that area that gets radiation but the surgeon says she'd need the radiation treatment to keep the scar from becoming keliod (or upraised) again. We are trying to decide what to do now.
Thanks for your response.

that depends on where the scar is. and it shouldn't be a big issue. talk to the doctor about all your concerns, he should be able to answer your questions.
