Small amputation of tip of thumb

Small amputation of tip of thumb

recently had accident at work cutting off about an M&M size piece from the tip of my thumb. They will not allow light duty in the kitchen where I work since there is not much i can do with only 1 hand. I had a skin graft to repair the injury. Does anyone have an idea as to when I can start using that hand normally again?

It's usually about a month(3 to 4 weeks) before the graft is ok enough to have pressure put on it. You really don't want to push it, since you don't want to re injure the area. The graft should have a nice pink ish color, so that you know there is good blood flow to the graft. Call up your doctor and ask when they think it's best for when you can go back to work. Every one heals at a different pace, so just keep an eye on it and see how it all goes. good luck.
