crooked smile

I am 15 days post-op from facelift surgery and have a crooked smile which seems to follow the pattern of marginal nerve damage from what I have read online. How do I know if this will be permanent or temporary? My bottom right lip won't move downward when I smile hard but is barely noticeable as long as I keep a straight face. I also have a lot of little "prickly" sensation in my right sheet and into my right jaw.

This discussion is related to Droopy lip after face and neck lift.

Hi Stella,
You are probably correct in your research findings.  I bet you had to sign a "release from responsibility" before the doctor would do anything.  Unfortunately, time will tell if this is permanant.  There is a huge risk of nerve damage when cosmetic surgery involves the face and its thin structures. Even having specific teeth pulled can cause nerve damage in the face and tongue.
Have you spoken with your surgeon about this yet?  Perhaps daily light massage and cold/warm therapy could be done. Stimulate the "sleeping" nerves to "feel" again. Just an idea, I'm not a doctor nor a professional in the surgical field. It just makes sense to try some of these.
I wish you luck...love your face...no more lifts...you are who you are supposed to be.  :)
