purple staining post facelift

I had a full facelift, brow lift, eye lift, and had neck done almost 3 months ago.  I've healed well, but notice dark discoloration on my left temple adjacent to my eye.  It is on an angle and looks like a bruise.  My plastic surgeion said it was a deep stain, not bruising.  He didn't say if and when it would go away.  What should I expect?  Will it fade over time? This area is still numb.

Persistent staining is a left over bruise and probably due to iron pigmentation of the tissue (hemoglobin has an iron atom at its core).  This will resolve with time but takes longer that the typical bruise.  I have sometimes used a bleaching cream to help the area.
