scar , tummy tuck 18months ago

I had a tummy tuck,abdominplasty  18months ago, my scar is still red-pink it's not keloid the Dr has said, slightly Hypertrophic he said in places, some areas of the  scar have faded to a fine white line, the rest still  looks very inflamed,red, my plastic surgeon  said I could try the Advantin cream, cortisone cream, apply just to the scar line, I have started using the Advantin cream, it is fading slightly, I am only using a tiny amount once a day just to the scar line, is it safe on scars to fade scars??. I tried all the silicon sheets to my scar line in the past,had injection into the scar  etc, nothing  has worked, my surgeon said some patients can take up to 2-3yrs for the scar to fade, and he feels the fact it has faded to a fine white line in a couple of places, shows it will fade.
