Anal Abscesses

Just left the Dr and she said I need to get in to GI - thinks I have two Anal Abscesses - anyone eles have these??  What do they do about it?

thanks for you input.  I see a surgeon tomorrow afternoon.  After general doc told me to see GI she said need to get bios done she thinks I have cancer.  I am so sick of feeling terrible and now this.  UGHHHHH

I just recently got over a perianal abcess. They have to be drained for one thing, and the infection treated with antibiotics. Everything I had read about mine said that they are usually accompanied by a fistula which can only be repaired surgically. I got lucky because the surgeon I saw first was very lacking for a better choice of words. So I went back to my family dr to get a referral to a better surgeon and lo and behold the thing ruptured and started draining on its own right there in her office. So she gave me a referral but also decided to really sock it to me with the antibiotics. She gave me 500 Mg Cipro twice a day for ten days AND Augmentin 875 mg twice a day for ten days. So that was TWO strong antibiotics at double doses. And guess what??? My fistula cleared up. I did go see the surgeon for my appt just to be sure eventhough I knew it was gone..just to get the ok ya know ..and he said yep its gone..no sign of it. SO make sure you find a good dr who is willing to try everything first before jumping to surgery because I am proof that they are not always only repairable by surgery. Oh BTW....this first appeared sometime in August..and I had it lanced by the first surgeon the last week of September...and it never completely went away..I was holding off as long as possible for surgery and it flared up badly again in December..the week before Christmas...and was gone by Jan 13th.
