COLITIS?

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with internal hemorrhoids about 3 years ago.  Everything has been fine until recently where I've had severe urges to relieve myself many times a day.  When I would get these urges, I would get a gassy and bubbly feeling in my lower abdomen.  When i would relieve myself at the toilet I would have a noticeable pain in the lower ab area as well.  The pain would subside as soon as I am finished.  The fecal matter is in the form of diarrhea with occasional pellets of feces which are "forced" on their way out and are somewhat uncomfortable.   There is loose blood mixed in with the diarrhea , but I am not sure if it is from the hemorrhoids or not since it is not bright red.  I get the urges to relieve myself about 5-6 times a day.

I went to my doctor today who looked inside my rectum and noted it was really bloody and he could also see the internal hemorrhoids.  He took a CBC which looked normal, but is referring me to a GI just to be safe.  I have been having these symptoms for about 1 month, and I am 90% positive my symptoms are from a pre-workout supplement I am taking.  I just hope the problem will go away in time and that I haven't done any permanent damage to myself.

What are your thoughts on my symptoms?

Thank you

Colitis is what I am expecting too.  I'm not certain because I take really good care of myself (exercise, low stress, etc.).  I know numerous research has proven that food and/or supplements do not cause Colitis, but I am almost positive my symptoms are due to the energy supplement i have been taking.

I just hope this is just my body's way of getting rid of the toxins from the energy drink, and that I have not done permanent damage to myself.

My doctor has referred my to a GI and I will try to get in there as soon as possible even though im really scared.

Thanks for your response Ali
