Colectomy Surgery

I have uc for 17 yrs. and now am told it is uc/chrones.  I have many many psuedo polyps so they can't get a good reading on my colonoscopy and are afraid of the possibility of colon cancer. I am scheduled for a colectomy in two weeks and want to know if I am doing the right thing or do I have an alternative.

I feel for you.  I had UC for 10 years and then had a colectomy and J-pouch built 16 years ago and it has been wonderful being cured.  The polyps are worrisome and it is better to be proactive.  I won't lie to you and say that the sugery is a breeze - it is not easy but you will recover and you will get your life back.  Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to.
