Colitis with other symptoms

When my daughter was 11 she was diagnosised with colitis. It went into remission after a couple years and all was quiet. Then about 5 years later she started having the pains again. In addition to those she has had a negitive ekg. She wore a heart monitor for 24 hours and the results were poor. She has bad palpitations and chest pains. She also has lots of back pains and other joint pains as well as visible muscle spasms. Could this all be related to one illness or perhaps 2? We are in the middle of testing but are running into problems and I just want an idea of what we are dealing with. She also has a very sluggish digestive track.

Hi there,  I'm just wondering what medications your daughter is taking?  I ask this because my daughter is 14 and was diagnosed in January with ulcerative colitis.  She was immediately given Asacol for treatment and it caused alot of horrible side effects including severe chest pains and heart issues along with many of the symptoms you have described here.  We've made the choice to try to treat it more naturally and using enema type steroids during more severe flare ups.  Once we stopped the drugs almost all of the horrible side effects have stopped.  Aside from her colitis being worse in the mornings including bloody bowel movements she seems normal and can actually function as a teenager should.  I just wanted to share this info in case it has something to do with your daughters heart issues.  I've read alot about asacol and am now very cautious about modern medicine as the side effects are certainly worse than the colitis itself in her case.  Good luck and I can certainly sympothise with your frustration, it's hard when your child is sick and you don't know how to help.  I'm always worried about my daughter now, with what she eats, whether she is taking her probiotics daily etc...
