Concerned--bad stomach problems
Someone I know last night was vomiting horribly and when they took him to the hospital they said he has problems with his gallbladder.  He is 31 years old, worked at a factory for a while, which made him terribly sick once, and enlarged his stomach, and gave him gastric problems.  His mother has had gall stones before.  What do you think is his problem, and is it terribly serious?

Hi there!

Without knowing the relevant clinical details or a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to comment on the cause of the symptoms. Vomiting is a very non-specific symptom and can be causes due to GI related issues, neurological causes, metabolic issues, hormonal/ endocrine causes etc. If the doctors believe it to be related to the gallbladder, it is likely to be so. It is best advised to discuss the situation, the suggested management plan and the expected prognosis in detail with his treating doctor.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
