Crohns Help ! Vomiting, pain and afraid to eat

My grandson is 11 years old and has active Crohns he is in pain, vomiting the very little he eats and has diarrhea this happens every 2 weeks after his Remicaid treatment.  He takes Pentasa and Florastor daily, his gastroenterologist just gave him an antispasmotic today.  He is afraid to eat and drink, cannot maintain his weight.  Does anyone out there know of Aloe treatment?  He needs help, we have a great family support system, he has distractions but the pain is double over and hard to ignore in it's severity. His school-work is hard to maintain and he is becoming depressed.  Connecticut is our location, Yale our physicians base. Anyone know of a good specialist in crohns child psychologist for therapy or a group of peers for young teen boys.

You could try contacting the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (in New York I think) and see if they can help. They have local support chapters and there may be one in your area where you can get peer support and help in finding an appropriate pediatric gastroenterologist.

Liz in England.

Hi, I have Crohn's and whenever I have a flare up the same thing happens.  For me, the best thing that works is actually baby food.  Since baby food is designed for a baby's sensitive digestion it actually worked very well, and what actually settled my stomach the most was Gerber's sweet potato baby food.  I just put it in the microwave for 25 seconds before eating.  It really helped to settle my tummy.  Another suggestion would be flax seed oil; I just took a table spoon of that and it helped settle my stomach as well.  Keep your grandson away from any veggies or spicy type foods (some foods people think aren't spicy, to me, are very bad).  Marinara sauces were too acidy, so if you feed your grandson anything tomato based, mix the sauce with some sugar to cut out down on the acidity.  Hopefully this is somewhat helpful.
