Crohns and Fistula

I am a 41 year old female who has suffered from chronic diarhea (diarrhea) nearly my whole adult life.  I was always told to drink fiber and that it was IBS.  I noticed over the last several months that I was having less and less normal bowel movements.  I went to a specialist and he had me do a colonoscopy.  In the transverse colon, he found a fistulous tract that appears to be connected to inflamed part of the small bowel.  He is having me take a small bowel follow through in a couple of days and suspects crohns.  I am scared to death.  I have no symptoms except diarhea (diarrhea) - I never experience any pain.  Is this fistula something they can fix?  He said something about not being able to remove it because it can leave a hole in my colon?  I am not sure if he just meant he could not have done it during the colonoscopy.  I am so scared - someone please help !!!
