Crohn's?

starting on Sunday, I have been having very severe anal spasms along with a ton of pain, and some itching.  It is very hard to sleep at night due to the pain.  I have not been constipated, so I don't think it would be hemmorroids.  It does not hurt to go to the bathroom either.  The pain is pretty constant with spasms very often, and when I have a spasm the pain is so intense that it causes my entire body to tremble.  I would describe the pain as almost like a bite near my butthole.  Nothing I have tried has given me any relief.  I have googled my symptoms and the only thing I have found that sounds somewhat simliar is an anal fissure or crohn's.  I called a doctor's office today and spoke with a doctor and he said that I should not be worried and it's more than likely a fissure.  Can somebody please help?  I want to know that it's nothing extreme. Does anyone with Crohn's get severe spasms?  Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks!  Luvinmykidz, do you have any sort of redness or bumps near your butthole?  Lastnight, my husband checked for me and said on the left side near my butthole I had a lump and it was very sensitive to the touch.

If you are suffering with the same ailment as I am then you have Proctalgia fugax.  I get it seriously bad with orgasm especially but sometimes it just wakes me up out of deep sleep.  The pain is so intense I sometimes sit on the bathroom floor crying.  Sitting while rocking back and forth on my tailbone seems to help somewhat.  There is no cure for it.  My doc however has me on a minimal dose of nortriptyline (Yes it is an antideppresent) but it does something for the nerve pain.   Sometimes a warm rice sock will help the pain for me as well as some ibuprofen!!!!  Hope you get it figured out soon...my GI doctor diagnosed it for me.  http://www.gihealth.com/html/education/proctalgiaFugax.html

Crohn's disease is a chronic, autoimmune condition, meaning if you had it you probably would have noticed other symptoms by this point in your life. People with Crohn's usually have pretty severe, regular diarrhea and abdominal pain from the time they are very young. The pain you are describing and the fact that your symptoms started very suddenly indicates what you have is probably a hemorrhoid or anal fissure.  Unfortunately, the treatment for both hemorrhoids and fissures pretty much just involves pain management, meaning taking over the counter pain medication and buying a numbing cream/wipes like Preparation H or Tucks and waiting for it to heal on its own. You should go in to see the doctor anyway though because both hemorrhoids and fissures have a tendency to get infected, and if that happens you will REALLY end up in pain. Best of luck!
