Curious as to if this is a flare. Need help.

Long story short..15 yr old daugh dx with Crohn's in Jan. Put on Remicade, went into remission, and has been
on 6MP ever since and has been doing wonderful.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, she was put on Keflex with her Crohn's doctor permission.

This week, mild cramping, soft stools, tiredness and rectal bleeding, even without diarrhea, is occurring.
She has Peri-anal Crohn's and has two  large skin tags to contend with.

I am also on another forum and it was suggested to put her on Probiotics which I started yesterday.
I will call her doctor today, but if she is in a flare, does this mean her 6mp is not working? Any advice and
guidance would be helpful. I guess she could just have a stomach issue, but it appears these are the signs of crohn's. Can flares heal on their own?

Thanks for any help given. I'm new to all this, as she is newly dx.

Thanks Nikki for the support. My daughter is not on the keflex anymore, she was a few weeks ago. The doctor said the 6MP should have done it's job, but that maybe too much of the good bacteria was destroyed.

6MP has worked wonders, but daughter still has the anal skin tags and the doctor feels that they should be gone by now. So this medicine is "almost" perfect, but who knows.

Daughter is on 50 mg of 6MP, her body can't handle more.

Next step is Remicade only or methotrexate.

Thanks again! :-)

Hi sorry your daughter is not feeling well.May i ask why your you daughter is on keflex (why i ask is there are some signs or other symptom's that that need antibiotic that could be part of the flare). It does sound like a start of a flare , you can get a flare when on 6mp it does not mean it not working their nothing that will completely stop a flare they can still happen on meds.I would talk to the Dr have her rest but the Dr might need a more aggressive plan to get her through the flare flare tends not heal on their own best help is to see a dr to even determine if their is a flare and if she needs meds. And when she fells better talk to dr to see is 6mp is good or if she needs to change or increase her meds.Hope she feels better soon.
