I really do think you need to see a Gastroenterologist about your symptoms. There are other meds you can take besides Prednisone, I believe. Please don't put this off. You could just make it worse. Perhaps you not getting this job is a blessing in disguise. Maybe you need to concentrate on getting better first. I do believe things happen for a reason. Please contact your doctor and let us know how you're doing. God bless,
April

Hospitalization is not needed with every flare up.  It is important to get into your doctor as soon as you realize you are flaring.  They will up your regular meds and may put you on prednisone or can try the enemas which are very helpful but less side effects than the prednisone.  How long have you been on the Imuran?  It does take about 6 months to really work.  Do keep in mind that if you do need prednisone this time that it would just be a short round until the Imuran really kicks in.  So sorry about the job but agree that perhaps it is a blessing and will allow you to get yourself healthy which is the priority.

ive been on imuran for umm ... 10months
. and i have been on enemas before (HATE THEM!!!) .. and didnt really work that well!

and i called my nurse, i had bloodwork done , and now im doing stool sample ( yay!). but,  idk, i do not want prednisone at all, do u think theres any way he might not give me pred again, and try another med ? .   a while back he did talk about remicade, but i dont think we're ready to try that yet.

and honestly im preetty sad right now , cuz i have no job and i have to sit at home all day , waiting to poop .

ANOTHER THING ; i realized my arms and legs are a bit swollen do u think this has to do with colitis ? .

AND; my poop is gray ! . (wtf!?)

You really are feeling awful - so sorry.  I'm not sure if the swelling or colour are from colitis or not.  Imuran can cause swelling in your legs.  It is good you are seeing your doctor and ensure you mention all your symptoms.

In the mean time ensure you are watching your diet and staying on a low residue one and perhaps avoiding dairy and wheat and spices.  Make sure you are getting lots of fluids and try upping your intake of higher potassium, sodium and magnesium rich foods (bananas, potatoes, etc.).  Keep us posted.

turns out , it was some kind of 'virus' or something that upset my whole colitis (since thats where im sensitive i guess :/ )
it ended up going away on its own ( weird eh? :S ) without any meds! :) .

+ and i got a full time summer job !. so i was happy this summer !

Thank you for yur advice.
