For about three weeks, it hurt really bad when I tried to have a bowl movement

by sctt859, Jun 20, 2009 03:34PM
When my stool passed through to the toilet, it felt like there was something there and it would hurt very bad as my stool came out, last night, I woke up with very bad diarrhea when I went to the bath room all this bright red blood poured out, a lot. I cleaned it and went to sleep very worried, I had a bowl movement again this morning and while I did not feel any pain blood still came out not as much as it did last night but it was still a good amount, I went again to the bath room, no blood came out, had to go again then blood came out again.

The blood seems to not be as much each time I go to bath room and I also no longer feel any pain in my anus when I have a bowl movement.

Did something burst? Is this something to be very worried about?

AS long as the blood was not mixed with the stool, in all probability, it came from the opening of the anus, either from a hemmeroid or an anal fissure. My guess, based on your description, sounds like a fissure. Anal fissures are fairly common, and many people get them at some point in their life. If they last more than 6 weeks, then they are considered chronic, and if they bother you a lot, it is best to see a Dr. for further treatment. If you maintain a high fiber/soft stool diet and soak in a sitz bath when you do have the pain after a bowl movement, this can help in the healing process. Good luck, and don't worry, they are more common than you think, if this is the case.
