Granulomatous Colitis

My son age 24 was just diagnosed with what the doctor thinks is Focalli Active Chronic granulomatous Colitis.  Not sure what this is.  I have UC and am wondering if this is simular. They also mentioned Chrones. What should we be looking at to educate ourselves on this and what does he have to look forward to as we learn to manage his condition?

Thanks for the answer.  We are trying Asacol to get it under control.  Gastroenterologist says it is crones.  We will continue to look at options once symptoms are under control. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Hi there!

Yes, this could be a localized form of IBD. The precautions may be similar to IBD, while the precise management plan is best discussed with his treating gastroenterologist depending on the severity of the condition.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
