HELP! Crohn's doc in Venice, FL?

Hi, everyone!

My poor brother has recently moved to Venice, FL and has just spent a week in the hospital with an exacerbation, only to leave with no surgery (he really needed it!) and can only eat soup now. He's had two surgeries in the past and really felt this bout warranted surgery. His doc and the surgeon kept going back and forth about the surery. They schedule and then cancel. And, like I said, he can't tolerate solid food yet. He's fed up with his Crohn's and sick of ineffective doctors.

Does anyone know of a great gastroenterologist in or near Venice? He really needs one!!

Hi - I live in England, so am unfamiliar with gastros in the US, except an Indian Gastro who treated me some 12 yrs ago when I was admitted with a rectal haemhorrage to a hospital in Zephyr Hills, Florida. I was on holiday, staying with friends near Tampa, and came home a couple of weeks later, so didn't have on-going connection with him for my Crohns. I think this may be too far from Venice for your brother,

Only thing I can suggest is for you to contact the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) and see if they can help. They have a good website, which may be worth a look at, as well as local Chapters throughout the US.
