I need advice about a Fistula

HELP, ADVICE, RESOURES PLZZZZ

I am a 41 yr. old female with a reoccurring perirectal abscess that is now a fistula. I do not have med insurance !
The first time I go it I was about 22 and was givin antibiotics and it went away. The second time was about 7 yrs. later. I had surgery (put under) and cut open and drained. They had gauze n it and I was told 2 replace. As far as I remember there was never a follow up. The third time Dec 26, 09 I had it cut open drained (wide awake). They said not to put gauze n, just had to b cleaned out every day and slowly close bk. Fr nside out. It was the holidays so it was a minor emergency room clinic. I saw a different doctor every time all of which told me something different, contradictory. This was also the first time I was told something could be done about it. I was told the cyst could be removed but not until it had healed. Fourth time 10-13-10, cut open drained (wide awake, btw scale fr 1-10 4 pain, 20) same thing left open cleaned every day. I was told this time it was ecoli not staf (not that I was told whether it was any of these the times b4). Now sayin I have a fistula an opening, tear n my lower intestines that are leaking n2 the pour and I have to c a colon specialist and have it repaired.
I have been trying to research and am very confused and scared. I have read all these horror stories about it not working and possibly spreading to new locations. I don’t have insurance I can’t afford the $, time off wk. and the possibility of it not working and spreading. How do I find a reliable colon specialist,….. Any advice on anything would b appreciated.
12-26-10 got really bad cramps (thought period, getting older worse) n bed 4 2 days, even though wasn’t my time. Was not do to period, 12-28-10 noticed its back its still small, and I will b going to my general practitioner tmrw to hopefully get on antibiotcs, and it will go away. I`ve been told and read once its there antibiotics wont work but it did the first time.
Thanks 4 ur time and advice

Sounds like me dealing with the abscesses. I have had six in two years, each time just cut & drain, & the pain. ....I would not wish it upon my worst enemy....I have been awake each time they have cut & drained. (3 times, the others I let rupture on their own). It is just to painful to have cut & drained, it is the numbing of the area that is painful....Of course having them rupture on their own is painful, but at least no one is touching it....

Anyway, you caught my curiosity with the cramps and attributing them to just being older and female. I cramp alot also, but I have never been tested for chron's either. I get cramps & always assume it is just because I am female or something heavy I ate that I should not.

I keep asking the dr. & surgeons why I get them, but they are too busy to find out, they just cut & drain...cut & drain, no blood work, although the first two times they said I had some weird infections when they sent it off to pathology. I did the antibotics only twice, the third time (3 weeks ago), when I inquired about taking them, she said, no, don't need it.

I wish I knew why I was getting them....

You probably have chron's disease. The fistula and abscess are probably caused by chron's. It sounds like the wound has been infected. The cramps are probably inflammation of the intestines, another symptom of chron's. You need a colonoscopy done to check for chron's, then you can see a chron's specialist to get the right medication.
