from Pennsylvania... diagnosed with perianal crohns about a year ago, although we think i've had it since I was 14 (suffering w other symptoms that no doctors identified as crohn's), but didnt show gastro problems until about 17
I was on Remicade for almost a year and wasn't responding, atleast I don't think I was because I really didn't see a change in anything and was in the hospital for another seton surgery in April, so I suppose it really didn't help. My GI put me on Humira, which I started on Thursday... how fun was that? no fun at all! 4 friggen injections at the doctors office, then I go back for 2 more June 3rd, then I do it myself (well, my dad will because I WILL NOT inject myself) every two weeks at home. I'm on also on Flagyl, which is absolutely vile (I can't swallow pills from pure anxiety, so I have to crush
it with a mortar/pestal, dissolve it in a tsp of warm water, and mix it with some apple juice to get the stuff in me). I really hope the Humira will work for me. Unlike many of you suffering with Crohns, my intestines have not yet been affected.. I have Perianal Crohn's, so I can eat whatever I want, but my pain is all in my rear end and rectum. The GI said that most people who don't respond to Remicade will be successfuln on Humira... hope I'm one of them.. anything to keep me out of the hospital! Anyone else on Humira? Let me know how you are doing!
to it during my 4th infusion of it. I was switched to Humira two years ago and it has worked really well for me so far. Hopefully it will work just as well for your perianal Crohn's, too.
