Lower Back pain and Crohn's

Just joined this community to try and find some support for a chronic pain that I am having.  I was diagnosed with Crohn's back in 2000 and had a resection in 2001.  I have been on several different medications since then and am currently taking Imuran and Pentasa to control my disease.  The Crohn's seems to be under control.  For the last year, however, i have been having a pain in my lower back (actually it is more in my buttocks).  My GI doctor didn't seem to think it was anything, probably a muscular thing.  Went to the Chiropractor 7 times to no avail.  My Family doctor thought it might be Sacroiliac joint inflammation, but my x-ray came back normal???!!!  I am at my wits end with this and have been reduced to tears more than once over it.  I have a hard time doing everyday activities like getting out of bed in the morning, getting up out of a chair or adjusting my position in a chair, rolling over in bed, putting on socks and shoes, bending down to pick something up, etc..  The pain is not present when I am active, just when I bend or adjust my position during inactivity.  I know that Crohn's and arthritis can go hand in hand, so i am convinced that this is related to my Crohn's.  If anybody can relate or has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate the support.

Hi jenb1305, I too have had similar problems. Have had a colonoscopy but was told it was ok but I am convinced I have Crohns, like my father. I seem to have all the symptoms of nausea, fatigue, tummy pain AND really bad back pain. No-one else seems to have the back pain which worried me until I saw your post. I get it right at the base of my spine, but also into my left buttock and up my back. It aches and aches so bad some days. So I sympathise with you. I went to the Chiropractor about 10 time and now I am with a physio to see if he can help. Have you had an MRI or CT scan on your back? I am considering having to ask for that.

Yeppers, this is just one of the symptoms but it's a doooosie! I already have spine problems. Two cervical fiusions and severe arthritis is something I contend with daily. I had 4 surgeries in less than 2 yrs.
Both wrists, both first two fingers and two trigger thumbs..then my left elbow, now they want to do the other elbow. My pain level had decreased tremendously.
BUT, now it's my IBS that's went haywire. I'm having so many issues it's not funny cuz I had to postpone dealing with IBS due to all the other pains. The pain in my lower back is an on going/daily/hourly issue.
I do warm showers, heating pads, and even putting a towel in the Microwave and then onto the area it hurts.
It gets to the point where you will try most anything to release the pain.
