Perforated colon

I had been in severe lower adominal (abdominal) pain for over a month. My Dr. told me it was gas. Refused to give me pain med. He said it could make the problem worse. Finally he said he would do a ct. I got the results yesterday. a perforated colon and divertialitis. The pain when away about a week ago and he said the body healed itself. When I asked what he was going to do for treatment, he said wait for the pain to come back and we'll take it from there. I never want to experience that kind of pain ever again. I think something should be done before this happens again. Any opinions anyone?

Did you see your PCP? If so, perhaps it is time to ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist and get his opinion. I would certainly want a specialist's opinion, not a PCP's.
