Pregnancy and Crohn's

For the people out there who are or were pregnant and had crohn's, how did you do? Did you symptoms get better? worse? Are people with Crohn's a high risk pregnancy?

Hello
I've been told and heard all sorts of stuff about pregnancy & CD. What I found to be true is that about half of people with Crohns get better when pregnant. I'd had surgery in 2003 and got pregnant 2004. My back became a huge issue while pregnant and still is, some is chronic inflammation from crohns some is injury. Most people do ok pregnant. I had a hard time getting pregnant before my surgery but its with any health issue, if your run down, sick all the time, it's going to be harder to get pregnant. The first yr after my son was born I had no problems, the CD eventually started to come back more each yr. But that was to be expected after surgery you usually get 3-5 yrs with little or no active CD. My biggest issue now is energy level. When my system is upset, or back really hurting its hard to get going. My son is almost 4 and sooooo busy. but any parent gets tired, I get more tired more often, but having a good routine going helps cause on a bad day the routine takes over.

I never had any symptons of Crohns until I had my first daughter back in 2003.. After having her, I had CD and went to a GI doctor and got diagnosed with Crohns.  With medicine (ASACOL) all my symptons went away in about 4 months.. Then I got pregant with my son in 2005 and I had a great pregnancy.. no problems, no symptons of Crohns.  The day I gave birth to him, my Crohns came back with a vengance.  All my symptons came back and they were worse than before.  This time, my medicine (ASACOL) didnt work and had to go with something stronger.  (ENDACORT) which worked for  awhile.. What my doctor told me is that with each pregnancy I would have, my Crohn's would get a little worse.  But while pregnant, I was ok.. But I think it just depends on the individual woman. Good luck!!
