Rectal Inactivity

I am a 61 year male with a lazy colon. I have recently developed problems discharging feces. I have gone 3 weeks without a bowel movement and then 8 days and more recently 9 days all in a 6 week period. I am also a diabetic with severe neuropathy in both legs and feet. I take a variety of pain medication which is what I'm told is the cause of the constipation. The only way I have had to flush myself out is with the use of Citro-Mag. I can't continue using Citro Mag to flush myself and am looking for a way to rejuvinate my colon so that it is restored to it's normal function allowing me to discharge regularly. What should I do?

I would see a gastroenterologist who is better equipped to answer your query than we are.
